Duty type S3 is a duty consisting of a sequence of identical cycles, each of which comprises an operating time of constant load and a standstill time, where the starting current does not significantly influence the overtemperature. In this operating mode, the motor is periodically loaded with certain pauses. The nominal duty type S3 30% is permitted, which means that the motor may only be operated for 3 minutes in a period of 10 minutes and must cool down again for the remaining 7 minutes.
